Dry Powder Inhalers

In this type of inhaler the drug is formulated into a dry powder and used without a propellant.

Dry powder devices may require a capsule for manual loading. It may not be suitable if the patient has a problem with manual dexterity.

The device is activated by breathing in. It requires the patient to take a sharp, deep inhalation so that particles are broken down to be small enough to reach small airways. Therefore the patient needs to be able to breathe in forcefully to get the drug deep in to the lungs. Not all patients will be able to do this.

Push thumb grip right around until it clicks to load dose.

Turn nozzle at the base of the inhaler to load dose.
