Bronchodilators (Beta antagonists) - Side effects
The following cautions and side effects are applicable to both short and long acting Beta-2 adrenoceptor agonists.
- Commonly heart palpitations or faster beats.
 - Peripheral tremors especially in the hands.
 - Headaches.
 - Muscle cramps.
 - Very occasionally, patients may report that their chest feels tighter after taking a bronchodilator. This may be due to paradoxical bronchospasm and is the opposite of what the drug is intended to do. Patients should be seen by medical staff if this occurs.
