What happens after the assessment has been done?
A care and support plan is put together following assessment of need. It details the care which can be given and any costs which may be payable. In Scotland personal care is free but some care may incur charges depending on the individuals financial circumstances. For example personal hygiene care is free but laundry and shopping may incur a cost.
The help can be provided by:-
- Home care services
- Day Care
- Care home
There may be a waiting list for care provision and the most urgent requests are dealt with first. This includes people who have no other means of support or who may be at risk.
The person can chose to use the self-directed support method which gives more choice in the control and flexibility of how care is provided.
