Self-directed support
Self-directed support offers a choice of four ways to get the support the person needs.
- Direct payment – the local council pays money directly to the person to arrange their own support by employing staff or buying services from one or more organisations.
- Directing the available support – the council or organisation of their choice holds the budget but the person is in charge of how it is spent.
- Local authority arranges support –the person asks the council to choose and arrange the support needed.
- Mix and match – this allows the person to have a combination of the above to suit their needs.
